The Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) at Medistate Hospital is a state-of-the-art facility dedicated to providing essential care for newborns requiring intensive medical attention. Our mission is to ensure the swift recovery of these precious infants through the use of cutting-edge medical equipment and the latest advancements in medical knowledge. Simultaneously, we are committed to equipping families with the necessary resources and knowledge to support their neonatal care journey.
Within the NICU, we offer highly specialized care for infants facing significant risks, including those at risk of brain and organ damage due to complicated births, premature infants born at or after 24 weeks, overweight newborns, babies from multiple pregnancies, or those exposed to meconium (the baby’s first stool passed into the amniotic fluid). We also provide care for infants born to mothers with diabetes. Our dedication extends beyond our borders, as we serve both local and neighboring countries, ensuring that all newborns in need of intensive care receive top-notch medical attention.
Our Neonatal Intensive Care Unit offers a comprehensive range of medical services, including mechanical ventilation for respiratory support, exchange transfusion, phototherapy, percutaneous drainage catheter procedures, total parenteral nutrition, chest tube insertion for lung issues, invasive blood pressure monitoring, bedside EEG and ECHO procedures, bedside ultrasound examinations for brain and organ assessment, and retinopathy examinations for premature infants. We operate around the clock and collaborate closely with various pediatric specialties, such as Pediatric Surgery, Pediatric Neurology, Pediatric Cardiology, Pediatric Gastroenterology, and Pediatric Metabolism & Endocrinology, to ensure the best possible care for our tiniest patients.
